KL to Putrajaya
Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya
Putrajaya is Malaysia's federal administrative capital, about 30 km south of KL. The drive takes approximately 40 minutes via the Maju Expressway. It is a planned city of grand government buildings, manicured gardens, bridges, and man-made lakes — architecturally impressive and surprisingly uncrowded on weekdays.
Putrajaya is sprawling and not walkable — landmarks are spread across kilometres of parkland. A car with driver is the most practical way to see it. Your driver hops you between the Putra Mosque, Perdana Putra, and the bridge complex efficiently without walking in the equatorial sun. Combine with a stop at nearby KLIA if you are heading to the airport afterwards.

Putra Mosque
Built from rose-tinted granite, this striking pink mosque sits on the edge of Putrajaya Lake. Non-Muslim visitors are welcome outside prayer times. Free robes provided for those not meeting dress requirements.
Perdana Putra
The office complex of the Prime Minister of Malaysia. You cannot enter the building, but the green-domed structure overlooking the lake makes for impressive photos from the surrounding gardens.
Putrajaya Bridges
The city has over 10 bridges, each with unique architectural design. The Seri Wawasan Bridge and Seri Saujana Bridge are the most photographed. A drive across them is part of the experience.
Good to Know Before You Go
Weekdays Are Best
Putrajaya is a government city — quiet and easy to navigate on weekdays. Weekends bring local visitors to the parks and lake area, but it is still far less crowded than KL attractions.
Combine with KLIA
Putrajaya is midway between KL and KLIA. If you have a few hours before a flight, a Putrajaya visit fits naturally into your airport transfer route.
